Job summary

Compass Group Pty Limited is seeking an experienced Chef to work at the McArthur River Mine Site in the Northern Territory. You will report to the Head Chef and Site Management, and you will implement buffet bulk cooking for meals and ensure strict safety and hygiene standards on site.

The role requires a Trade Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery with bulk catering experience, a strong knowledge of HACCP guidelines, and the ability to work within a FIFO roster and remote site environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of kitchen procedures, operations and food safety practices.
• Experience with hygienic work practices and HACCP guidelines is expected.
• Trade certification is the minimum educational requirement.

Job description

ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback.

We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to work at our McArthur River Mine Site in the Northern Territory. This role reports directly to the Head Chef and Site Management.

• Work a 14 days on, 7 days off roster

The Position:

• Work collaboratively with a team of Chefs, Kitchen Utilities and Dining Room employees.
• Buffet style bulk cooking for Breakfast, Crib, Lunch, and / or Dinner and Desserts.
• Ensure OH&S compliance, adhering to safe work practices and food handling procedures.
• Ensure all catering controls are in place, and wastage is kept to a minimum.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, infection control and cleanliness in accordance with Compass standards.
• Enhance workplace culture - display high levels of customer service, contribute ideas & be flexible to meet the needs of the business.

The Person:

• Trade Cert 3 in Commercial Cookery - Minimum
• Experience within bulk catering environments/commercial kitchens
• Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations
• Excellent food safety knowledge
• Experience with hygienic work practices and appropriate HACCP guidelines
