Job summary

Ting Ting Restaurant in North Adelaide, SA, is seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. You will prepare and present a range of Asian dishes while upholding high standards of taste, quality and presentation.

The ideal candidate holds a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, has at least one year of professional experience in Asian cuisine, and can work calmly under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.

Job description

Ting Ting Restaurant is an established restaurant located in North Adelaide, South Australia. We are seeking an experienced and qualified Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience preparing and cooking Asian cuisine and will be responsible for maintaining the quality, consistency and presentation of food served to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting a range of Asian dishes to a consistently high standard.
  • Preparing ingredients, sauces, marinades, stocks and other food components.
  • Following established recipes and maintaining consistency in taste, quality and presentation.
  • Developing and introducing new dishes and menu items where required.
  • Monitoring food preparation and cooking processes to ensure food is prepared safely and efficiently.
  • Ensuring food is prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Inspecting the quality of fresh produce, meat, seafood and other ingredients.
  • Minimising food wastage and maintaining appropriate portion control.
  • Working efficiently during busy service periods.
  • Coordinating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
  • Ensuring kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained appropriately.
  • Complying with workplace health and safety requirements and applicable food safety legislation.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification; and
  • Have at least one year of relevant professional experience working as a Chef, including demonstrated experience in preparing and cooking Asian cuisine and proficient use of a wok.
Applicants should also demonstrate:
  • Strong knowledge of Asian cooking techniques and ingredients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a professional kitchen team.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Strong attention to food quality, presentation and hygiene.
