Job summary

Maitland ELC is seeking a part-time cook at our Maitland site to support education through healthy meals. The role covers bulk meal preparation, stock control and strict food-safety compliance while engaging with children and families in a nurturing early-learning environment.

You will work Monday to Friday, approximately 25 hours per week, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration in a brand-new centre.

Qualifications

• Cooking to a set menu and bulk meal prep.
• Experience in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control.
• Strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations and standards.
• Cater for allergies and dietary requirements.
• Contribute to early education by teaching healthy eating in lessons and family events.
• Professional, enthusiastic attitude with strong relationship skills.
• Hold or be willing to obtain Working with Children Check, Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, Food Safety Certificate and First Aid with CPR/Asthma/Anaphylaxis.
• Experience or education in an early childhood setting is highly regarded.

This Job opportunity is Part-Time, Monday to Friday for approximately 25 hours per week.

Essential Criteria for Successful Applicants:

• Efficient and capable of cooking with the ability to follow a set menu.
• Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control.
• Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards.
• Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies and specific dietary requirements.
• Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events.
• Possess a professional and enthusiastic attitude.
• Help nourish the children in our care with your culinary expertise as well as any input you may have to contribute towards growing our own fresh produce.
• Be a positive person who will develop strong relationships with families, children, colleagues and the community.
• Have a current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
• Must hold FSS (Food Safety Supervisor Certificate), Current Food Safety Certificate (or willing to obtain).
• Have a current First Aid Certificate including CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training (or willing to obtain).
• Experience or education within an early childhood setting will be highly regarded.
