Job summary

Little Bees Childcare is seeking a dedicated Cook/Chef to provide nutritious meals for children across morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on a 4-week rotating menu. You will cater to allergies and dietary needs while upholding strict food safety, hygiene, and storage standards.

Collaborating with the Centre Manager, you will help maintain a healthy, balanced menu and record-keeping. Experience in early childhood settings and relevant qualifications are preferred, with Above Award wages and a

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery, Nutrition or Early Childhood Education
• Experience in cooking role, preferably in an early childhood setting
• Experience with menu planning and managing dietary requirements and allergies

Job description

As our Centre Cook/Chef, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for children using a 4-week rotating menu, catering for children with allergies, special dietary requirements and cultural preferences, and maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, food storage and preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for children using a 4-week rotating menu
• Catering for children with allergies, special dietary requirements and cultural preferences
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, food storage and preparation
• Ordering and managing food supplies and coordinating food deliveries
• Working collaboratively with the Centre Manager to develop and maintain a healthy, balanced and nutritious menu
• Maintaining accurate records relating to food preparation, temperatures and dietary requirements
• Creating a positive and enjoyable mealtime experience for children
• Building positive relationships with children, families and educators

About you

• Holds a relevant qualification in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery, Nutrition or Early Childhood Education
• Has previous experience in a similar cooking role, preferably within an early childhood setting
• Has experience with menu planning and managing dietary requirements and allergies
• Holds a current Working with Children Check
• Holds a current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Holds a current First Aid Certificate
• Is passionate about preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children
• Is organised, reliable and able to work independently
• Has a positive attitude and enjoys being part of a supportive team
