Job summary

HCA Youth and Community is seeking casual Residential Youth Workers to support children in out-of-home care in Adelaide. You will join a dedicated team to build a safe, nurturing environment and assist with daily living tasks in a community-focused setting.

This role emphasizes trauma-informed practice and requires flexibility for AM/PM and sleepover shifts, plus current First Aid & CPR, Working with Children Check, and a valid driver's licence. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Must have or be studying Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar.
• 6 months residential youth work experience or equivalent.
• Available for AM, PM and sleepover shifts across the week and weekends.
• Hold a valid Australian Driver's Licence (P2 or higher).
• Working with Children Check and current First Aid & CPR.
• Physiological assessment or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships and create a safe, nurturing environment for at‑risk youth.
• Assist with personal care, meals, and hygiene while encouraging independence.
• Support attendance at school, appointments, and community activities.
• Encourage emotional regulation and social connection through daily activities.
• Administer medication and maintain accurate records.
• Support complex behaviours using trauma-informed and TCI approaches.
• Complete Trauma Recovery Framework and TCI training within three months.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams on individual support plans.
• Maintain wellbeing through supervision, reflection, and self-care.
