Job summary

HCA Youth is seeking a casual Residential Youth Worker to support children and young people in out-of-home care. You will build safe, trusting relationships and help with daily living, transport, and therapy-informed activities.

Work rosters are set in advance with opportunities for emergency and ad hoc shifts. A certificate IV in Youth Work and WWC are required, plus a willingness to obtain additional trainings.

Qualifications

• Hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services, or equivalent.
• A minimum of 3 months experience in Residential Youth Services, or industry-relevant transferable skills.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting trauma-related challenging behaviours.
• Holds an Australian Drivers Licence (QLD Opens).
• Possesses a Working With Children Check (Blue Card).
• Can provide availability to work across AM/PM/Active night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Create safety, stability and predictability for at-risk youth.
• Assist with personal care, meals and hygiene to promote independence.
• Facilitate transportation to school, appointments and activities.
• Promote emotional regulation and social connection through activities.
• Administer medications and maintain accurate reporting.
• Deliver trauma-informed care using a TC I framework and empathy.
• Engage in Trauma Recovery framework and complete TCI within six months.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop support plans.
• Maintain personal wellbeing through supervision and self-care.
