Job summary

HCA Youth and Community is seeking a casual Residential Youth Worker to support children in out-of-home care across Australia. You will join a welcoming team working in advance rosters with stable shifts, including emergency and ad hoc slots.

You’ll build trusting relationships, assist with daily living, support school attendance, and work with trauma-informed approaches. Aims include completing Trauma Recovery Framework and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Hold (or be studying towards) a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Social Work, Disability Support Work or similar
• 6 months of residential youth work experience
• Have availability for AM, PM and sleepovers shifts through out the week and weekends
• Australian Driver's Licence (P2 or higher)
• Working with Children Check
• Current First Aid & CPR certificate
• Have a Physiological assessment or willing to obtain

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships and create a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk youth
• Assist with personal care, meals, and hygiene while encouraging independence
• Support attendance at school, appointments, and community activities
• Encourage emotional regulation and social connection through daily activities
• Administer medication and maintain accurate records
• Support complex behaviours using trauma-informed and TCI approaches
• Complete Trauma Recovery Framework and TCI training within three months
• Work with multidisciplinary teams on individual support plans
• Maintain well being through supervision, reflection, and self-care
