Job summary

HCA Youth & Community is seeking a Casual Residential Youth Worker to support children and young people in out-of-home care across Australia. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment, build life skills, and promote resilience.

The role offers flexible rosters and the potential for ongoing shifts, including emergency or ad hoc work. Successful applicants will have a Certificate IV in Youth Work or be studying toward one, a current First Aid/CPR certificate, a Blue Card, and a valid

Qualifications

• Hold (or be studying towards) a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Social Work, Disability Support Work or similar Community Services industry
• Australian Drivers Licence (OPEN)
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Current First Aid & CPR certificate
• Police Check

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
• Create a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment
• Support daily living tasks including meals, personal care, hygiene, and routines
• Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and social development
• Assist with school attendance, appointments, and community participation
• Administer medication and maintain accurate case notes/documentation
• Support complex behaviours using trauma-informed practices and TCI strategies
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and care plans
• Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and reflective practice
