Job summary

Casual teachers are needed across ACT and NSW primary, secondary and early learning settings. You will provide coverage when classes are unavailable, support learning environments, and adapt to diverse school contexts.

Applicants include qualified teachers and final-semester student teachers in accredited ITE programs, with eligibility to work in Australia and successful screening as per CACGEL policy. Remuneration is set per day depending on years of teaching service.

About Us

Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CACGEL), plays an integral role in education in the ACT and NSW, operating 56 Catholic Systemic Schools and nine Early Learning Centres.

Casual Teachers play an important role in supporting students when their teacher is unavailable, or a school requires additional staffing. Casual Teachers support a learning environment that stimulates learning, promotes excellence and accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported.

Who can apply?

• Qualified teachers.
• Pre-service teachers who are in the final semester of their accredited Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program and have completed all required professional experience placements.

• Thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning.
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with colleagues, students, and parents.
• Capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community complying with the legal, administrative, and professional requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of classroom practices and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments for all students, including meeting a variety of learning needs.
• Comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies.

Other Eligibility Criteria

• You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
• Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CACGEL policy.
