Job summary

SHCS Sydney Health & Care Services in Sydney NSW is seeking casual Community Support Workers to assist participants living with mental health challenges, including complex behaviours, dementia and dual diagnosis. Roles are casual/temporary across Sydney with multiple shift patterns.

Responsibilities include supporting people with complex needs, medication prompting, and upholding safety protocols, with a focus on respectful, person-centered care. Requires travel across Sydney and valid checks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in mental health, disability support, or community services (or Certificate IV in Mental Health).
• Willingness to travel across Sydney and work flexible casual shifts.

Responsibilities

• Experience supporting people with complex needs and mental health.
• Supervision and prompting of medication administration (as needed).
• Strong emotional regulation and calm communication style.
• Use validation, reassurance, and redirection during distress.
• Respect choice and control, including refusals of support.
• Follow Behaviour Support Plans and safety protocols.
• Personal care and manual handling when necessary.
• Assistance with hygiene, cleaning, and bedding.
