Job summary

Moonee Valley City Council’s Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds is seeking a Casual Food and Beverage Attendant to support the Hospitality team in delivering high-quality cafe and bar services at a busy arts venue. You will work across theatre bar and café, handle cash and stock, and contribute to smooth event operations.

Previous catering or venue hospitality experience is preferred; RSA and safe food handling credentials are desirable, with willingness to obtain them as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver customer service at the Clocktower Centre in a friendly atmosphere.

• Handle money, stock, and reconciliation paperwork in the café or theatre bar.
• Ensure food safety guidelines and RSA compliance.
• Assist front-of-house and venue operations during events.
• Under supervisor, maximize sales and complete reconciliation paperwork.

• Salary of $49.88 per hour plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Opportunity

Join Moonee Valley City Council's vibrant Arts, Culture & Place department as a Casual Food and Beverage Attendant at the Clocktower Centre. The Clocktower Centre is a vibrant performing arts centre and conference space, with a daily café and children's space. In this role, you will support the Team Leader Hospitality and Venue Services and Hospitality and Venue Services Assistant in delivering high-quality food and beverage services at a variety of civic, community, and commercial functions. Your responsibilities will include working in the theatre bar, assisting with café services, and contributing to the smooth running of events at the Centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service to patrons at the Clocktower Centre, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
• Delivery of a range of civic, community and commercial functions, meetings and training sessions
• Assist in catering operations, including food and beverage preparation, room setups, responsible service of alcohol, coffee making and ensuring clean and tidy catering areas.
• Handle money, manage stock, and complete necessary reconciliation paperwork in the café or theatre bar.
• Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), and other relevant policies and procedures.
• Assist in front-of-house customer service roles, supporting other venue operations to deliver successful events.
• Under the direction of the Duty Manager or shift supervisor, work in the theatre bar or café, maximising sales, handling money and stock, and ensuring that all relevant reconciliation paperwork is completed.
• Under the direction of the Duty Manager, work in other front of house or customer service roles to assist with venue operations required to deliver events.

Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need high-level customer service skills and experience in catering operations, including food and beverage service, room set-ups, coffee making and bar operations. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be physically able to stand for long periods, lift and carry equipment, and work effectively in a team. Experience using point-of-sale systems, cash handling, and food preparation is desirable. Additional qualifications such as a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate, safe food handling certification, and barista training are preferred, or you should be willing to obtain these credentials.
