Job summary

Blacktown City Council is hiring a casual Catering Assistant to support busy venues with frontline food and beverage service. You will handle POS transactions, assist in food preparation, and help maintain clean, safe service areas across flexible shifts.

As a Catering Assistant, you help create a positive experience for the many people who visit our venues each day. With a strong focus on customer service, you prepare and serve food and beverages, set up kiosks and catering areas, process customer sales, answer enquiries and help keep refreshment areas clean, safe and welcoming. You work as part of the catering team to support daily programs, activities and events across our facilities.

You work in a busy, high-volume environment with more than 1 million visits each year. During peak periods, you prepare food, restock products, rotate stock, check deliveries, complete catering administration and operate point of sale and cash handling systems. You clean tables, empty bins, maintain food safety and hygiene standards, and ensure kitchen and servery equipment is set up, used and stored correctly.

Every interaction makes a difference. Your work helps customers enjoy a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment while supporting the smooth operation of the centre. You work closely with colleagues, follow established procedures and contribute to high standards of customer service and food safety.

This casual role requires flexibility to work 3 to 7-hour shifts across the following operating hours:

• Weekdays: 8.30 am to 7.30 pm
• Commitment to working at least one weekend shift each week.
