Job summary

Plate It Forward is hiring casual chefs and cooks across our Sydney kitchens. You’ll join a team where great food creates opportunity, working at Colombo Social in Enmore, Kyiv Social in Chippendale, Kabul Social in the CBD, or our Alexandria operations.

You'll prepare and cook to a high standard, support service, and help keep a safe, organized kitchen. Depending on your experience and location, you may run a section or assist with catering and community programs.

Qualifications

• Kitchen experience as a chef, cook, commis chef or chef de partie.
• Sound cooking and food safety skills.
• Australian working rights required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes per recipes and specifications.
• Manage your section during service as appropriate.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
• Store ingredients and monitor stock to minimise waste.
• Collaborate with chefs and team during busy periods.

About the role

You’ll prepare and cook food to a high standard, work with the team to deliver smooth service, and help maintain a safe, organised kitchen. Depending on your experience and where you work, you may run a section, support restaurant service, or prepare food for catering and community meal programs.

What you’ll do

• Prepare, cook and present dishes in line with recipes and specifications
• Manage your section during service where appropriate to your role
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards
• Store ingredients correctly, monitor stock and minimise waste
• Work closely with chefs and other team members during busy periods

About you

You have kitchen experience as a chef, cook, commis chef or chef de partie; sound cooking and food safety skills; and a reliable, supportive approach to teamwork. Formal culinary training, gained in Australia or overseas, is welcome. You’ll also need Australian working rights.
