Job summary

EVT in Melbourne is seeking a kitchen team member to produce high quality meals with the kitchen team for service and events across our hotels. You will prepare and garnish pantry items, follow recipes, and maintain food quality and portion control in line with hotel standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high quality meals with the kitchen team, preparing sauces, soups and hot dishes for service and special functions
• Prepare and garnish pantry items including salads, sandwiches and desserts, along with established menu and specialty items
• Follow standard recipes in all outlets and demonstrate superior recipe knowledge for every item on the hotel's menus
• Monitor food quality and portion control, and requisition the right amount of product in line with hotel policies and procedures
• Check food storage areas to make sure correct storage techniques and hotel cleanliness standards are maintained
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, follow all WH&S guidelines and protect and maintain operating equipment

What You'll Bring

• Knowledge of food products and recipes, with the ability to practise and teach portion control, quality control, waste control and product preparation techniques
• A focus on anticipating and attending to guest needs and desires immediately
• The ability to complete work responsibilities and assignments in a timely manner
• Full knowledge of, and commitment to, the hotel's WH&S guidelines and operational policies and procedures
• A harmonious, team-first approach with other members of the service team
