Job summary

The Village Corner Patisserie & Acai in Queenscliff, VIC, is seeking a talented Chef to join our casual kitchen team. Based in Queenscliff, this role offers flexibility and a chance to contribute to our vibrant patisserie and acai concept.

As a Chef, you will prepare and present dishes to high standards, follow food safety protocols, and collaborate with front-of-house staff. A hospitality or culinary background is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a professional kitchen as a Chef or Cook.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen management.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks during service.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high food quality and presentation.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods.
• Casual scheduling flexibility and relevant hospitality experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards, ensuring consistency across all meals served
• Managing food preparation stations, maintaining organisation and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times
• Plating and presenting dishes to meet the high visual and taste standards expected by our customers
• Following food safety and hygiene protocols rigorously to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth operations and timely service
• Assisting with inventory management and stock rotation, reporting on supplies as needed
• Contributing creative ideas for menu development and seasonal specials
• Operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining it in good working order
