Job summary

Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking a Casual Shelter Operations Assistant to care for animals in our busy animal shelter facilities. You'll feed, clean, exercise and monitor animals, assist with admissions, adoptions and reclaims, and help maintain records and provide friendly customer service.

This hands-on role suits someone passionate about animal welfare, comfortable working physically, and able to contribute to a safe, clean environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate II Animal Studies or willingness to obtain.
• Accredited under the Companion Animals Act as an Authorised Identifier or willingness to obtain.
• Intermediate computer literacy including database entry, internet navigation and Microsoft Office.
• Previous pound/animal shelter or livestock operating experience or willingness to learn.
• Current Drivers Licence (class C).
• Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

• Feeding, cleaning, exercising and caring for animals, monitoring their health and wellbeing, and assisting with admissions, adoptions, reclaims and shelter operations.
• Support the transportation of animals, maintain accurate records and databases, and assist members of the public by providing professional and sensitive customer service.
