Job summary

The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is seeking an Accommodation Support Worker in Surry Hills to provide safe, welcoming support to people experiencing homelessness. You’ll work with a team of Case Workers to assist clients with daily needs and connect them to essential services.

This casual role offers shifts across mornings, afternoons, evenings and overnights, with competitive hourly rates starting from $50.61 per hour under the SCHADS Award and access to tax-free salary packaging up to

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for supporting people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.
• Availability to work a rotating roster, including a mix of morning, afternoon, evening and overnight shifts, plus sleepovers.
• Experience in accommodation, homelessness, community services or hospitality.
• Understanding of child protection and ROSH procedures.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in crisis situations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Current First Aid Certificate and NSW Driver Licence.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and client management databases.

Responsibilities

• Welcome clients with compassionate, respectful support.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive accommodation environment.
• Work with Case Workers to support client needs and goals.
• Connect clients with essential services and community resources.
• Assist with daily operations: meals, transport and household tasks.
• Respond to crises and support clients through difficult periods.
• Maintain accurate client records, incident reports and logs.
