Job summary

St Vincent de Paul Society (NSW) is seeking a permanent full-time Support Worker based in Wickham, Newcastle. The role combines practical client support with accommodation services and property coordination, working closely with Case Workers to ensure properties are well-maintained, welcoming and safe.

The position involves coordinating maintenance, managing tenancy processes and supporting clients’ day-to-day needs in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in property management, accommodation services, community housing or a similar environment.
• A current First Aid Certificate.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
• A current driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain client rooms, including cleaning, laundry and room set-up.
• Ensure accommodation and communal areas are clean, safe, welcoming and well-presented.
• Act as the first point of contact for maintenance requests and property-related issues.
• Coordinate and follow up property maintenance, repairs and general upkeep.
• Assist with tenancy management and property compliance processes.
• Provide practical day-to-day support to clients accessing the service.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with clients, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
• Work collaboratively with Case Workers and other team members to support positive client outcomes.
