Job summary

Uniting NSW.ACT is seeking a compassionate Case Worker to support homeowners and individuals affected by natural disasters in the Northern Rivers region. You will help clients navigate the Resilient Homes Program and provide practical, person-centred guidance throughout their recovery journey.

This full-time role requires a Diploma in Community Services, at least 2 years in community services, and current NSW driver licence and WWCC.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Community Services or related discipline.
• At least 2 years’ experience in community services, including supporting vulnerable/trauma-affected individuals.
• Experience in outreach, case coordination and short-term support.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a broader team.
• Current NSW Driver Licence.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).

• Base annual rate of $97,570 to $102,001 negotiable based on experience and qualifications
• 12% super and access to NFP salary packaging options

We’re looking for a compassionate and capable Caseworker to join our Program SupportService (PSS) in the Northern Rivers. If you’re passionate about working alongside people experiencing vulnerability, enjoy community‑based work and have the skills to navigate complex systems with and for clients, this could be an opportunity to make a genuine difference.

As a PSS Case Worker, you’ll work directly with homeowners and individuals affected by natural disasters, providing practical, person‑centred support as they navigate the Resilient Homes Program (RHP) and their individual recovery journey.

You’ll take the time to understand each person’s circumstances, listen to what matters to them and help them identify practical pathways forward. This may include helping clients understand their RHP options, advocating on their behalf, connecting them with services and working alongside government agencies, contractors and community organisations.

This is a highly community‑focused and relationship‑based role, with regular outreach and home visits across the service area. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your work while remaining connected to a supportive PSS team and broader network of stakeholders.

No two clients or recovery journeys will be the same — your ability to listen, adapt and respond with compassion will be central to your success.

What you’ll be doing:

• Promote client choice, dignity, self‑determination and participation.
• Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding and child protection concerns.
• Contribute to a culturally safe, respectful and inclusive service environment.

Your Qualifications & Experience

You’re someone who genuinely cares about people and understands that recovery doesn’t always happen in a straight line.

You know how to build trust with people who may be experiencing significant stress, uncertainty or vulnerability. You’re confident navigating systems, advocating for clients and coordinating practical support, while maintaining professional boundaries and sound judgement.

You’ll bring:

• A Diploma in Community Services or related discipline.
• At least 2 years’ experience in community services, including supporting vulnerable and/or trauma‑affected individuals and families.
• Experience in outreach, case coordination and short‑term support.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a broader team.
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A current NSW Driver Licence.
• A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Experience supporting people affected by natural disasters, housing instability, trauma, disadvantage or complex circumstances will be highly regarded.
