Job summary

Mission Australia in Carnarvon is seeking a part-time Family and Domestic Violence Coordinated Response Service worker to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe case management for individuals, families and children affected by family violence. You will assess risk, develop safety plans and advocate for access to essential supports in collaboration with WA Police and local services.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Community Services or related discipline; commitment to pursuing Certificate IV.
• Experience providing case management to clients with complex needs, especially those affected by family violence.
• Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and protocols; ability to deliver culturally safe services.
• Full driver licence with no restrictions; willingness to undergo checks and clearances.

Responsibilities

Your Opportunity

Our Family and Domestic Violence Coordinated Response Service in Carnarvon plays a vital role in supporting individuals, families and children impacted by family and domestic violence. Working collaboratively with local agencies across the Gascoyne region, you will provide trauma informed and culturally safe case management, helping clients improve their safety, wellbeing and access to essential supports. This is an on-site position where you will build strong connections within the local community and work closely with WA Police, support services and key stakeholders to coordinate effective responses to family violence. In this diverse and rewarding role, you will assess risk, develop safety and case plans, provide advocacy and referrals, support clients through legal processes where required, and coordinate ongoing interventions to achieve positive outcomes. You will work with people experiencing complex challenges, requiring sound judgement, resilience, professionalism and a genuine commitment to empowering clients and strengthening community wellbeing.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Review family and domestic violence incident reports and undertake intake, assessment and risk assessment processes to determine client needs and safety concerns.
• Develop and implement individualised safety plans and case plans in partnership with clients, ensuring services are responsive, culturally safe and client centred.
• Provide ongoing case management support, advocacy and referrals, assisting clients to access appropriate services, programs and community supports.
• Support clients through legal and protection processes, including restraining order applications, court support and liaison with relevant agencies.
• Conduct follow up engagement with clients through outreach, telephone and video conferencing, ensuring timely intervention and continuity of support.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, attend interagency meetings and contribute to coordinated responses to family and domestic violence.
• Maintain accurate client records, case notes, data entry and reporting requirements in accordance with organisational policies, privacy requirements and service standards.

Requirements for Success

• Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or a related discipline, with a preference for family and domestic violence or youth services experience, and a commitment to working towards Certificate IV.
• Demonstrated experience providing case management support to clients with complex needs, particularly those impacted by family and domestic violence.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, communities and protocols, with the ability to deliver culturally safe services.
• Excellent knowledge of the Carnarvon and wider Gascoyne community, including local services, referral pathways and stakeholder networks.
• Well developed communication, relationship building and computer skills, including experience maintaining client records and databases.
• Proven resilience, sound judgement and the ability to maintain professional boundaries while supporting people experiencing distress, trauma and other complex challenges.
• Lived experience will also be highly regarded.
• Full driver licence with no restrictions.
• Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
