Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a part-time role in Grafton to support families and carers of people living with mental illness. The role focuses on outreach, engagement and coordinating emotional and practical support.

Based in Grafton with regular travel to Coffs Harbour, you will assess needs, develop tailored support plans and work with partners to secure positive outcomes. A pool vehicle is provided and the position runs through to October 2027 with possible extension.

$41.44 to $43.55 per hour + Super + Not for Profit Salary packaging Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience

Your Opportunity

The Family and Carer Mental Health Program supports families and carers of people living with mental illness through a comprehensive range of supports and services. The service works closely with families, carers, mental health support groups and networks, as well as local agencies and service providers across the NSW North Coast.

Reporting to the Program Manager, this role will see you utilise your strong engagement and motivational skills to provide emotional support, respite referrals, advocacy, and carer group support. You will build strong relationships with external partners to effectively identify carers, connect them with appropriate supports, and negotiate positive outcomes. Based in Grafton, this role supports communities across both Grafton and Coffs Harbour, with regular travel required to Coffs Harbour. A pool vehicle is provided for all work-related travel. This is a fixed-term opportunity through to October 2027, with the possibility of an extension beyond this date.

Requirements for Success:

• Tertiary qualifications in Community Services/ Mental Health and/or relevant industry experience
• Understanding of mental health issues and the effects on families
• A personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery is desirable
• Driver’s License

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
