Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cook or similar hospitality role.
• Experience preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch cafe-style food.
• Good knowledge of common cafe menu preparation and cooking techniques.
• Strong food preparation and organisational skills.
• The ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent portion sizes and food quality.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• An understanding of stock rotation, ingredient preparation and minimising food wastage.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to remain calm, organised and focused during busy service periods.
• Reliability, professionalism and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, menus and presentation standards
• Preparing ingredients, including meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces, stocks and garnishes
• Operating grills, fryers, stovetops, ovens and other commercial kitchen equipment
• Monitoring the quality of ingredients and finished dishes
• Ensuring consistent portion sizes, flavour and presentation
• Assisting with menu preparation and the development of new dishes when required
• Managing food preparation and service during busy periods
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and inventory control
• Minimising food waste and following appropriate food-storage procedures
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
