Job summary

UCS is seeking a skilled Cable Jointer to join our Pakenham Depot team. You will install, maintain and repair high and low voltage power cables, connecting insulated cables in trenches or substations and preparing terminations for transformers and switchgear.

Work will require following excavation procedures, adhering to safety standards, and coordinating with construction managers to ensure timely project delivery. A strong safety-first attitude and team focus are essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair high/low voltage cables in distribution networks.
• Connect insulated cables in trenches, conduits or substations.
• Prepare cable ends (terminations) for transformers and switchgear.
• Follow excavation safety procedures and design plans.
• Coordinate with construction team for timely project completion.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Cable Jointer you will be required to install, maintain, and repair high and low voltage power cables that form the backbone of electrical distribution networks. You will be highly skilled in connecting insulated power cables in underground trenches, conduits, or substations, and prepare cable ends (terminations) for equipment like transformers and switchgear. You will ensure proper excavation procedures are followed while adhering to safety standards. Install, route, and secure cables in accordance with design plans, engineering drawings, and client specifications. You will work closely with other construction personnel including Construction Managers, Team Leaders and Installers, to ensure smooth coordination and timely project completion. Additionally, a willingness to adhere to all UCS Group and site-specific safety policies, ensuring personal and team safety during all activities. You will be hardworking, dedicated and a team player with a 'can do attitude'.
