Job summary

Carbonix is seeking a BVLOS Safety Case Analyst to draft, develop and review regulatory submissions for long-range RPAS operations. The role sits in the flight operations team and reports to the Chief Remote Pilot, delivering AusSORA safety cases and supporting evidence to submission standards.

The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to source operational and technical data, understand CASA requirements, and maintain traceability across all evidence.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated working knowledge of JARUS SORA 2.5 and CASA AC 101-06 (AusSORA).
• Proven track record of drafting BVLOS or complex operation applications submitted to a national aviation authority.
• Strong technical writing ability with a clear, traceable safety argument.
• Sound understanding of CASR Part 101 and the ReOC operating framework.
• High attention to detail across evidence traceability and version control.
• Confident communicator across operations and engineering teams.
• Must hold valid working rights in Australia.
• Desirable: CASA Remote Pilot License (RePL) or related license.
• Desirable: Prior crewed aviation license and operational flying experience.

BVLOS Safety Case Analyst – AusSORA Specialist

Carbonix is seeking a BVLOS Safety Case Analyst to draft, develop and review the regulatory submissions that authorize long-range RPAS operations. The role sits directly in the flight operations team and reports to the Chief Remote Pilot, producing AusSORA safety cases and supporting evidence to submission standard. All work is subject to final review and sign-off by the Chief Remote Pilot before lodgment with CASA.

Key responsibilities

Draft and review AusSORA applications for BVLOS and other complex operations in accordance with CASA AC 101-06, covering intrinsic and final ground risk, air risk, SAIL determination and containment.

Develop and maintain the supporting evidence set for each application, including the concept of operations, operational volume and buffer derivations, mitigation substantiation, and clear traceability between every claim and its evidence.

Review submissions and safety case material produced by others for regulatory accuracy, internal consistency and evidentiary completeness before they reach the Chief Remote Pilot for final check.

Track CASA correspondence, requests for further information and conditions of approval, and close them out cleanly in subsequent revisions.

Assess airspace risks and establish first point of contact with key stakeholders.

Work closely with flight operations, engineering and GIS staff to source the operational, technical and spatial data each safety case depends on.

About you

Demonstrated working knowledge of JARUS SORA 2.5 and CASA AC 101-06 (AusSORA), including the ground and air risk models, SAIL determination, OSOs, and containment requirements.

Proven track record of drafting or substantially contributing to BVLOS or other complex operation applications submitted to a national aviation authority.

Strong technical writing ability, capable of constructing a clear, traceable safety argument and defending it in writing under regulatory scrutiny.

Sound understanding of CASR Part 101 and the ReOC operating framework, including how operational limitations and approval conditions flow into procedures.

High attention to detail across evidence traceability, terminology, version control and internal document consistency.

Confident communicator, able to work across operations and engineering to extract and verify technical detail.

University degree in aviation, engineering, science or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Must hold valid working rights in Australia.

Desirable: CASA Remote Pilot License (RePL), powered-lift or aeroplane category rating.

Desirable: Current or past crewed aviation license and operational flying experience.

Direct involvement in the approvals that unlock complex long-range RPAS operations.

A close working relationship with the Chief Remote Pilot and exposure to the full regulatory pathway, from concept of operations through to CASA approval.
