Job summary

Pyramid Consultants Pty Ltd is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth in the road freight sector across WA and SA. The role is based in a hybrid setup, combining field activity with corporate support, to accelerate new business across Western Australia and South Australia.

You will lead from prospecting through to closing, build a strong pipeline, and collaborate with operations, finance and IT to craft tailored transport solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in business development and closing deals.
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation and value-selling capabilities.
  • Experience developing and managing a dynamic sales pipeline.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.

  • Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company targets.

The Company

Our client is a well-established, privately owned Australian express road freight business with a national depot network spanning Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide. Its operations are supported by a strong network of regional partner agents.

Following continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Managers to expand its customer portfolio across Western Australia and South Australia.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the relevant State Managers and National Sales Manager, you will identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across the WA and SA markets.

This is a genuine new-business development role suited to a motivated sales professional who enjoys prospecting, building a strong pipeline and converting opportunities into long-term commercial partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company targets

Identify and pursue new business opportunities across WA and SA

Build and maintain a strong, qualified sales pipeline

Lead negotiations, close opportunities and onboard new customers

Develop tailored transport solutions that address customer requirements

Build trusted, long-term relationships with customers

Maintain regular contact with prospects and newly acquired accounts

Collaborate with State Operations, Customer Service, IT and Finance teams

Ensure new customer requirements are clearly communicated and delivered

Monitor sales activity and business growth against agreed KPIs

Provide accurate pipeline, activity and performance reporting

Contribute to the broader strategic direction of the business

About You

You are a commercially focused and target-driven sales professional with a demonstrated ability to win new business and build lasting customer relationships.

You will bring:

A successful track record in business development and closing deals

Strong prospecting, negotiation and value-selling capabilities

Experience developing and managing a dynamic sales pipeline

Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills

Strong commercial awareness and a solution-focused approach

The ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment

Confidence working collaboratively with operational and support teams

Experience using CRM platforms and Microsoft Office

High levels of integrity, accountability and professionalism

A proactive, determined approach and genuine motivation to succeed

Experience within express road freight, transport or logistics—particularly across the WA / SA markets—will be highly regarded but is not essential.
