Job description

Business Development Manager - Mobility Equipment into Hospitals

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established and growing supplier of healthcare and medical equipment across Victoria.

The business has built a strong reputation within the healthcare sector, supplying a broad range of products and solutions to hospitals, healthcare facilities and clinical professionals.

This position will focus on developing and growing relationships across public and private hospitals throughout Melbourne, with a combination of existing account management and new business development.

Importantly, the territory and account portfolio can be structured around the successful candidate's location. Whether you're based in Melbourne's north, south, east or west, there is flexibility to align the territory with where you live.

The business is open to speaking with experienced sales representatives from medical devices, hospital equipment, healthcare consumables and other clinical product backgrounds who understand how to sell into hospitals and navigate the healthcare procurement process.

The Opportunity

This is a field-based sales position combining new business development with the management and growth of existing hospital accounts.

You’ll be responsible for building relationships with key decision-makers across your territory, identifying opportunities to introduce new products and working closely with clinical and procurement teams to secure new business.

There is an existing customer base to build upon, although the business is equally interested in someone who enjoys getting out in front of new customers and identifying opportunities to grow market share.

The position will involve:

  • Developing new business opportunities across public and private hospitals throughout your allocated Melbourne territory.
  • Managing and growing relationships with existing hospital accounts.
  • Building relationships with hospital procurement teams, Nurse Unit Managers, clinical staff and other key stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce new products and solutions into existing and prospective hospital accounts.
  • Conducting product presentations, demonstrations and training with healthcare professionals.
  • Managing the sales process from initial engagement through to quotation, negotiation and securing orders.
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure customers receive a high level of service and support.
  • Taking ownership of your territory, identifying opportunities to increase market share and grow revenue.
About You

The business is looking for someone who understands the hospital environment, enjoys being out in front of customers and has a proven ability to develop new business.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience in a BDM, Territory Manager, Account Manager or Product Specialist position within the healthcare sector.
  • Established relationships across Melbourne's public and/or private hospital network.
  • Experience selling medical equipment, hospital products, consumables or other healthcare solutions.
  • An understanding of hospital procurement processes and how purchasing decisions are made.
  • A demonstrated ability to generate new business while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
  • Confidence engaging with clinical professionals, procurement departments and senior hospital stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to territory management, with the ability to work independently and identify opportunities.
You don't need to come from an identical product background.

Someone currently selling medical devices, consumables, hospital furniture, clinical equipment or other healthcare products would be equally attractive, provided you understand the hospital sales environment and have the relationships to support it.

What's On Offer
  • Join an established healthcare supplier with a strong presence in the Australian market.
  • Take ownership of an existing customer portfolio with opportunities to grow the territory.
  • Flexibility around territory allocation and account coverage depending on where you're based in Melbourne.
  • Represent a broad range of healthcare products and solutions.
  • Work with an experienced team that understands the healthcare sector.
  • A position offering autonomy, customer engagement and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on territory growth.
