Job summary

Bayside Group is seeking a Building Assessor to travel across the greater Melbourne area assessing the condition of publicly owned buildings. You will collect data using tablets, 3D imaging cameras or smartphones, and rate building fabrics on site.

Responsibilities include precise data capture, documenting defects with clear imagery, and ensuring high data quality. You will work independently or with a team, and must be ready to travel as required within Victoria.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of materials used in construction and fit out, and ability to identify defects, damage and maintenance issues.
• Experience with defect or condition inspections and data capture on large commercial buildings or multisite projects.
• Access to a reliable vehicle, a valid Australian driver's license, and willingness to travel around Melbourne.
• Proficient with smartphones, tablets and laptops and basic troubleshooting.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work autonomously or in a team.

Due to an influx of new projects, we are seeking technical professionals with strong knowledge of building fabrics, fit out and defects to conduct condition assessment on existing buildings across the greater Melbourne area.

About the role.

As a Building Assessor, you will travel to a range of sites collecting data using tablets, 3D imaging cameras or smartphones, on the condition of publicly owned buildings in Victoria.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Identify and record data on the location and condition of relevant building fabrics (cladding, walls, floor coverings, ceilings).
• Provide thorough and accurate data capture, ensuring data is upload as directed to minimise risk of data loss.
• Capture clear images of defects, hazards, assets, and apply correct condition rating.
• Actively engage with the team to maintain accuracy and verify data capture quality.

To set you up for success, you will need:

• Strong knowledge of materials use in construction and fit out, ability to identify them, and identify defects, damage, and maintenance issues. (Required)
• Demonstrated experience with defect or condition inspections/data capture projects across large commercial buildings or multisite projects.
• Access to a reliable vehicle, a valid Australian driver's license, and willingness to travel around the Melbourne area. (Required)
• Proficient with the use and basic troubleshooting of smartphones, laptops, tablets. (Required)
• Professional demeanor and the capability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
