Job description

This is an opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong mechanical or engineering background to take responsibility for the day-to-day operations, performance and continued development of our Newcastle branch.

Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will oversee branch operations, ensuring jobs are effectively planned, resources are managed and customer expectations are met.

This is not purely an office-based management position. We are looking for someone with a solid mechanical or technical background, ideally with experience in a hands‑on leadership role such as a Mechanical Fitter, Leading Hand, Field Service Supervisor or similar position. Experience within the conveyor belt industry, including belt splicing, installation and repairs, would be highly regarded but is not essential.

The successful candidate will combine strong leadership and organisational skills with practical mechanical knowledge and the ability to support and mentor employees, troubleshoot technical issues and attend customer sites when required.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn the technical aspects of our industry, take ownership of branch operations and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the business.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise and support the Newcastle branch team, promoting teamwork, accountability and a positive working environment.
  • Coordinate daily factory and on‑site operations, including labour, equipment, materials and job scheduling.

  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace health and safety, ensuring safe work practices, risk assessments and SWMS requirements are followed.
  • Monitor job quality, productivity, costs and overall branch performance.
  • Oversee stock control, purchasing, plant, equipment and general branch maintenance.
  • Ensure accurate job records, reporting and timely invoicing.
