Job summary

IMB Bank in Canberra is seeking a Branch Manager to lead a high-performing team and deliver outstanding member experiences. This hands-on lender-leader role focuses on growing a local business by guiding lending activities, serving members across face-to-face, digital, and phone channels, and building strong referral networks.

You will mentor staff, promote a customer-focused culture, manage daily branch operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen IMB Bank's presence in the Canberra

Qualifications

• Proven experience in achieving lending growth and managing residential home loans from application to settlement.
• Leadership experience with coaching, motivating and developing teams.
• Experience in banking/financial services or customer-focused environments.

We're looking for a customer-focused Branch Manager who combines strong lending expertise with proven leadership capabilities. As a key member of our Retail Network leadership team, you'll create an outstanding customer experience, support your team to succeed, and help grow our presence within the Canberra community.

About the Role

This is a hands-on "lender leader" role where you'll be responsible for growing a successful local business by leading a high-performing team while making a genuine difference in your community. Responsibilities include:

• Drive lending growth, build referral networks and create exceptional member outcomes
• Managing the loan process from completing loan interviews, processing applications through to assessment and approval
• Being prepared to serve member needs how they want to engage with IMB; including local face to face members, digitally driven interactions and phone calls.
• Generating new lending opportunities through proactive business development activities
• Leading, coaching and developing a small team to achieve lending, deposit, service, business and employee growth objectives
• Creating a positive, customer-focused culture that helps more members achieve home ownership
• Proactively identifying opportunities to support members and small businesses with lending and broader banking solutions
• Building relationships with members, referral partners, local businesses and community networks
• Managing day-to-day branch operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk requirements
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the broader IMB network to deliver positive outcomes for members

About You

You are a relationship builder, lending specialist and people leader who is passionate about helping members succeed.

• Proven experience in achieving lending growth and writing and managing residential home loans from application to settlement
• Leadership experience with a strong track record of coaching, motivating and developing teams
• Experience within banking, financial services, or a customer-focused environment
• A genuine passion for customer service and building long-term relationships
• Strong business development and networking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and supporting business growth
• Sound understanding of operating within a regulated environment.
