Job summary

Aureus Financial is hiring a Bookkeeping Manager to lead and grow our offshore division within our Virtual CFO practice. You will build and scale a remote team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of client books.

You will own reconciliations, payroll, BAS/IAS, review files before submission, recruit and coach bookkeepers, and design SOPs and templates to improve quality and turnaround times across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Australian bookkeeping experience.
• Hands-on BAS, IAS, STP payroll and superannuation.
• Experience leading or supervising a remote bookkeeping team.
• Confident hands-on skill in Xero and/or QuickBooks Online; Xero Advisor certification is a plus.
• Comfortable working Sydney-aligned hours with at least 5 hours of daily overlap.

Responsibilities

• Bookkeeping Delivery and Compliance: Run reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and BAS/IAS preparation across the client portfolio; review every file before it reaches a client or the compliance team; catch issues early.
• Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, onboard and manage the bookkeepers who join your division as it grows; run coaching sessions that build real technical skill.
• Process and Systems: Build SOPs, templates and quality-control checklists to make the division repeatable; push for Xero, QuickBooks Online and automation improvements that cut turnaround time without reducing accuracy.
• First 90 days: ensure all files reconciled and closed monthly; onboard and train initial bookkeepers; have SOPs and bottleneck plan in place.

# Bookkeeping ManagerYou have run bookkeeping before. You know what a clean file looks like and you know exactly how it goes wrong. Now you want to build something bigger than your own desk. Aureus Financial is hiring a Bookkeeping Manager to start, lead and grow our offshore bookkeeping division inside our Virtual CFO practice. This is not a role where you inherit a finished team. You start with a small team and you build it.THE ROLE IN THREE SENTENCES You will own the accuracy and timeliness of every client bookkeeping file that moves through our Virtual CFO service line. You will recruit, train and lead the bookkeepers who work under you. And you will design the systems and quality checks that let this division scale without things breaking.WHY THIS MATTERS Our accounting clients are Australian business owners who need more than a set of books. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS ● Every file in your portfolio is reconciled and closed within the agreed monthly turnaround. ● The first bookkeepers under you are onboarded, trained and producing work you would sign off yourself. ● You have a working set of SOPs and a clear view of where the bottlenecks are, with a plan to fix them.WHO YOU ARE ● A senior bookkeeper who is done doing the work alone and ready to lead a team that does it at scale. ● Someone who treats a client file the way a pilot treats a checklist. Nothing gets signed off on a hunch. ● Direct and organised. You would rather flag a problem early than let it surprise someone later. ● Comfortable working directly with senior leadership, with no layers between your work and the decisions it feeds.WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING ● 5 or more years of Australian bookkeeping experience. ● Hands-on BAS, IAS, STP payroll and superannuation, not just AP/AR and reconciliations. ● Experience leading or supervising a remote bookkeeping team. Tell us the team size and how long you led it. ● Confident hands-on skill in Xero and/or QuickBooks Online. Xero Advisor certification is a plus. ● A track record of being the last line of defence on file quality, not just a contributor to it. ● Comfortable working Sydney-aligned hours, with at least 5 hours of daily overlap.WHAT WE OFFER ● Base salary of up to Php80k per month or higher for the right candidate. ● A fully remote independent contractor role. You manage your own tax and statutory obligations.
