Job summary

Penguin Random House New Zealand invites applications for a Production Coordinator or Controller to join our North Sydney team on a parental leave contract. You will support the production workflow to ensure titles meet budget, deadlines and quality.

You will create and process layout files, distribute proofs to project editors and sign off material for print, while negotiating printer quotes for best price and quality across print and ebook formats.

Qualifications

• Experience in production, publishing or design.
• Familiar with Macintosh and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Curiosity with strong organisational and numeracy skills.
• Deadline-driven with ability to manage priorities.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage book production processes, ensuring titles are delivered to budget, deadlines and agreed quality levels.
• Creation and processing out of layout files and PDFs. Distribution of files to project editors and signing off material for print.
• Obtain quotes and negotiate with printers for non-grid titles to ensure best possible price and quality.
• Work across Adult, NZ and Business Development lists, on both print and ebook as well as reprints and POD as needed.
• Provide creative input and guidance to the supported publishing divisions.
• Managing both hard copy and digital archives, recalling files when needed.
• Updating of bibliographic system as required.
