Job summary

Penguin Random House Australia Pty Ltd in North Sydney is seeking a Production Coordinator or Controller for a parental leave contract. Reporting to the Production Manager – Adults, NZ and BD, you will manage the production process of books and reprints, ensuring titles meet budget, deadlines and quality.

The role requires production or publishing experience, Mac and Adobe suite proficiency, and strong organisational and numeracy skills to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous production, publishing or design experience.
• Familiarity with Macintosh environment and Adobe suite.
• Strong organisational and numeracy skills; deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Manage book production processes to budget, deadlines and quality.
• Create and process layout files and PDFs; distribute to editors and sign off for print.
• Obtain quotes and negotiate with printers for best price and quality.
• Work across Adult, NZ and Business Development lists for print, ebook, reprints and POD.
• Provide creative input to publishing divisions.
• Maintain hard and digital archives and recall files when needed.
• Update bibliographic system as required.
