Job summary

Tefol Pty Ltd in Mackay invites applications for a Leading Hand Boilermaker to join our busy workshop team. This role leads welding and fabrication activities on site, ensuring quality and timely delivery for mining and transport projects.

You will oversee MIG, TIG and stick welding, heavy and light fabrication, and repairs to high standards. Reading drawings, planning tasks, and mentoring junior welders are key parts of the role, with strong emphasis on safety.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications in Boilermaking (Certificate of Proficiency).
• High level welding ability in heavy and light fabrication and repairs.
• Current weld tests certifications desirable.
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Commitment to safe work practices.

Our Boilermakers play a vital role in our business and are responsible for maintaining the companies' excellent reputation of high-quality fabrication and repair that is paramount to our valued customers.

Key Duties

Welding using MIG, stick and TIG (TIG not essential but looked upon favourably)

Heavy and Light Fabrication (Dozers, Buckets, Dippers, bodies etc)

Competent in all facets of oxy-acetylene processes

Undertaking steel fabrication and repairs to high standards

Ability to adapt to changing work requirements

Ability to read plans and produce detailed quality work

Willing to both contribute and learn from others; and

The ability to build clear and open communication with clients, management and team members.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills

Appropriate trade qualifications in Boilermaking (Certificate of Proficiency)

A demonstrated high level welding ability in heavy/light steel fabrication and repairs

Current weld test certifications will be looked upon favourably

Proven capacity to problem solve with excellent time management skills

Ability to read and interpret drawings

Strong commitment to safe work practices
