Job summary

BWE Drilling is seeking a Blast Hole Drill Trainer to develop trainee drillers and upskill field crews across mining projects. The role combines simulator-based training with hands-on coaching to build operator competence and safety culture.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will deliver structured programs, assess competency, and identify skill gaps. The ideal candidate has extensive blast hole drilling experience and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, with HR licence.

Qualifications

• Extensive blast hole drilling experience.
• Senior driller / drill supervisor / trainer leadership experience.
• Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or 40122).
• Coaching, mentoring and developing personnel.
• Sound understanding of drilling systems, equipment and best practices.
• Strong knowledge of safety, risk management and compliance requirements.
• Current HR driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Produce and deliver structured training programs using the drilling simulator.
• Train and mentor trainee drillers to progress into operational drilling positions.
• Provide practical field-based coaching to existing drill operators.
• Produce competency assessments and maintain accurate training records.
• Identify skill gaps and develop improvement plans for personnel.
• Promote and reinforce safe work practices, company procedures and operational standards.
• Assist with long term development of drilling personnel.
• Work with Operations and Training & Compliance teams to support workforce capability.
• Participate in investigations, reviews, and corrective actions relating to training and competency.
