Our client delivers specialist services across the mining, civil, and infrastructure sectors. Operating across multiple sites throughout WA and beyond, they bring together expertise in drilling and blasting, mining services, civil construction, and workforce solutions.

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a Junior to Mid-Level D&B Engineer / Planning Engineer to join their growing team on a temp to perm employment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone in the earlier stages of their engineering career who has a solid foundation and is hungry to develop their technical expertise in drill and blast operations. You'll work across active mining operations, contributing to blast planning, design, and reporting while being supported and mentored by experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of drill and blast designs for open pit mining operations
  • Utilise Surpac software for blast design, planning, and spatial data management
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports, spreadsheets, and operational documentation to support planning and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, drill and blast crews, and client site teams
  • Monitor and report on blast performance, fragmentation, vibration, and compliance with design parameters
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the D&B planning function
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safety standards, site regulations, and company procedures
  • Travel across multiple project sites as required to support operational needs
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline (or currently working towards completion)
  • A foundational understanding of drill and blast design principles and processes
  • Experience or developing knowledge of Surpac software
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Excel, data management, spreadsheets, and reporting
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a genuine desire to learn, develop, and grow within the D&B discipline
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Current WA Mining Induction (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
