Job summary

Shear Community Services on the Sunshine Coast is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner to provide specialist Positive Behaviour Support to NDIS participants across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding regions. You will conduct functional assessments, develop support plans and coach participants and networks while collaborating with a small, supportive team.

This role offers a hybrid arrangement with a mix of community-based work, home tasks and tight clinical supervision from our Clinical

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Q&S Commission.
• Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, OT, Speech Pathology, Developmental Education or related field.
• Experience delivering Positive Behaviour Support within the NDIS.
• Strong assessment, report writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and WWCC, or willingness to obtain.
• Current Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• ABN or willingness to obtain for contractors.

Responsibilities

• You’ll work with a varied caseload of NDIS participants across the Sunshine Coast, completing functional behaviour assessments and developing behaviour support plans.
• Manage referrals and onboarding to allow time for high quality clinical work and client outcomes.

Your Options

Full-Time Employment

$90,000–$120,000 + superannuation

Ideal for practitioners looking for a long term clinical home with the stability of employment, full entitlements and ongoing professional support.

Contractor

$112–$136/hr based on experience and NDIS Commission registration level.

Ideal for experienced practitioners wanting flexibility without sacrificing clinical support.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work with a varied caseload of NDIS participants across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding regions, completing functional behaviour assessments, developing behaviour support plans, coaching participants and their support networks, and supporting positive behaviour change in everyday environments.

We manage referrals, onboarding and much of the behind the scenes coordination, allowing you to spend more time focused on quality clinical work and participant outcomes.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from Core, Proficient and Advanced registered Behaviour Support Practitioners. Experience is preferred but not essential — if you’re at Core level and genuinely committed to developing your practice in a supported environment, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll have:

• Current registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Developmental Education or a related field.

• Experience delivering Positive Behaviour Support within the NDIS.

• Strong assessment, report writing and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain.

• Current Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

• An ABN, or willingness to obtain, if applying as a contractor.
