Job summary

Tallebudgera Surf Club Inc on the Gold Coast is seeking a Bar Manager (and relief Duty Manager) to lead the club's bar operations with a focus on service quality and staff development. You will supervise bar staff, manage cash handling and POS systems, develop menus, and ensure compliance with liquor laws, health and safety, and responsible service of alcohol.

A strong, hands-on leader with high-volume experience is essential.

Qualifications

• At least three years' experience as a bar manager or duty manager.
• Experience rostering staff in line with forecasted workloads.
• Understanding licensed operations including food & beverage, functions, gaming and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in high-volume food & beverage environments.
• Positive, proactive management approach.
• Current licences: RMLV, RSA, RSG and Approved Managers Licence.

• Develop and maintain bar menus, including signature cocktails and seasonal specials.

• Monitor cleanliness and organisation of the bar area and related spaces.
• Handle customer complaints professionally while maintaining a positive environment.
• Relieve as Duty Manager on a 4-day rotating roster, supervising daily venue operations and opening/closing duties.

Job description

Located at Palm Beach on the beautiful Gold Coast, Tallebudgera Surf Club (recently awarded \"Best Surf Life Saving Club\" and \"Best Small Club\" 2026), has completed a major multi-million-dollar renovation that has truly transformed the Club. The renovation includes a brand new state of the art kitchen which facilitates a full serviced restaurant, function rooms and a new café and beachside coffee shop.

An opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and proactive Bar Manager (and relief Duty Manager) to join our Management Team to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Club.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, train, motivate and supervise bar staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service standards

Manage cash handling, point-of-sale systems and financial reconciliation at the end of each shift

Develop and maintain bar menus, including signature cocktails and seasonal specials

Ensure compliance with all relevant liquor licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and responsible service of alcohol requirements

Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area and associated spaces

Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally whilst maintaining a positive environment

Relieve as a Duty Manager over a 4 day rotating roster as and when required, supervising daily venue operations and responsible for opening and closing the venue

All about you:

You have at least three years' experience as a bar manager or duty manager

Experience in developing and managing staff rosters in line with approved forecasts, while effectively coordinating staff availability, leave requirements, and timesheet approvals.

A sound understanding of all areas of licensed operations, including food and beverage, functions, gaming (desirable but not essential) & regulatory compliance

High volume food & beverage experience with a commitment to exceptional customer service standards

Have initiative and be willing to take responsibility

You are a positive friendly manager with a real passion for customers

You enjoy the challenge of leading, mentoring and motivating your team

Exemplary cash handing skills with a focus on complete daily venue banking

A strong hands-on approach with excellent time management skills

You have a current RMLV, RSA, RSG and Approved Managers Licence
