The Role

The Banking Services Trainee supports the delivery of banking services to Australian Government customers while undertaking a structured traineeship program. The role provides practical experience in banking operations, customer service and administration. The trainee develops knowledge, skills and capabilities through a combination of workplace learning, formal training and on-the-job coaching.

Key Accountabilities
Banking Operations
  • Assist with the processing of banking transactions and operational activities.
  • Learn and apply banking procedures, policies and systems.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate records and documentation.
  • Assist with reconciliations and routine reporting activities.
Customer Service
  • Respond to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Escalate customer issues to appropriate team members when required.
  • Develop an understanding of customer service standards and expectations.
Administration and Team Support
  • Provide administrative support to the branch as required.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the team.
  • Participate in team meetings and workplace activities.
Learning and Development
  • Complete all requirements of the traineeship qualification.
  • Actively participate in coaching, training and development activities.
  • Apply learning from formal training in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.

This role is targeted for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates only.

The successful candidate will receive Culturally sensitive mentoring to ensure they have all the support necessary to succeed.
