Job summary

Bakers Delight Chatswood Chase in Chatswood NSW is looking for a dedicated bakery assistant to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. You will help operate and maintain bakery equipment, ensure product quality, and support production planning to meet daily demand.

The role requires a Certificate III in Baking or equivalent, at least one year of bakery experience, and a strong grasp of food safety, hygiene and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Baking or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience in bakery or similar environment.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to maintain consistent product quality and presentation.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the cleanliness and condition of baking equipment and production areas before commencing production.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety and food hygiene requirements.
• Operate, monitor and maintain baking equipment, tools, ovens, mixers and other bakery machinery.
• Check the quality and condition of raw materials including flour, yeast, salt, water and other ingredients.
• Accurately weigh and measure ingredients according to recipes and production requirements.
• Mix and knead dough manually or using commercial bakery machinery.
• Monitor dough fermentation, proofing and conditioning times to achieve the required flavour, texture and consistency.
• Cut, mould, shape and portion dough into loaves, rolls and other specified bakery products.
• Operate ovens and monitor baking temperatures, baking times and product appearance.
• Adjust oven settings and baking processes where required to maintain product quality.
• Coordinate the forming, loading, baking, unloading and cooling of production batches.
• Conduct ongoing quality checks to ensure consistency of finished bakery products.
• Identify production or quality issues and make appropriate adjustments to recipes or baking processes.
• Clean and maintain baking trays, tins, mixers, ovens, benches and other bakery equipment.
• Maintain clean, hygienic and organised workstations and production areas.
• Manage stock levels of ingredients and baking supplies to support continuous production.
• Maintain cleanliness, delivery records in the food safety program on a daily/weekly and monthly basis
• Help in ordering raw materials and bakery supplies when required.
• Assist with testing and introducing new products and recipes.
• Training and supervising new and junior staff.
• Help in production planning and scheduling.
