Job summary

Qantas Airways is seeking a Back-End Developer to guide architecture, delivery and development of scalable backend systems at our Adelaide Product Innovation Centre. You will lead by example, delivering high-quality software that meets reliability and security standards.

In this role you’ll work with Java/Spring, AWS and modern tooling to build high-traffic services, ensure performance, and uphold data privacy. Join a team passionate about innovation and customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a hands-on Software Engineering role.
• Experience building high-traffic backend applications.
• Proficient in back-end tech (Java, Spring/Spring Boot) and databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Understanding of cloud-native development on AWS.
• Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Strong observability with Splunk or Datadog.

Responsibilities

• Guide architecture, delivery and development of backend systems powering the business unit.
• Hands-on development with high quality, well-designed software.
• Ensure reliability, performance and data privacy in production systems.
