Job summary

Qantas is expanding its Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide and seeks a Senior Mobile Back-End Developer to architect and deliver robust, scalable systems powering digital experiences.

You will be hands-on, lead architecture and delivery, and mentor colleagues while ensuring reliability, security and data privacy across services.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a hands-on Software Engineering role.

Join Qantas in our brand-new Product Innovation Centre located in Adelaide will contribute to consumer needs by architecting and delivering robust, scalable systems that power seamless digital experiences, ensuring fast, secure, and reliable services that support evolving customer expectations.

As a Senior Mobile Back-End Developer, you'll be responsible for guiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit. A hands-on, highly skilled software developer with the experience to dive into code to deliver high quality, well-designed software. You will share responsibility for the quality of the software being built, including but not limited to; achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

You’ll Have

• 6+ years' in a hands-on Software Engineering role
• Extensive experience in designing and building backend APIs
• experience across Kotlin (or Java), Spring Boot, AWS, Git, CI/CD, observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog and Splunk
• A real passion for quality, clean code and continuous improvement
• A strong understanding of architectural concepts and cloud-based solution design
• Highly dedicated ethos - expected to take very real accountability for the work you're doing
• Demonstrable ability to motivate self and others, and a passion to mentor junior developers
• Experience working with technical and non-technical partners, with the capability to influence
• A test and learn mindset with curiosity, collaboration and care
• Confidence with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with server-driven architectures will be well regarded
