Job summary

Southern Rural Water in Maffra is seeking a Technical Officer to provide hands-on technical and mechanical support across the MID. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain automated, mechanical, and electrical systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the irrigation network alongside a supportive team.

The role offers practical training on industry equipment and a flexible approach to work. You must reside within 30 minutes of Maffra to respond to recall events while on standby.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical and mechanical operations.
• Proficiency with a wide range of tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Familiarity with automation systems including SCADA operations and diagnostics is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain automation systems to ensure automated equipment operates efficiently.
• Serve as primary contact for SRW staff and contractors for maintenance and fault repairs.
• Liaise with Operations and Maintenance to meet system performance targets.
• Work proactively as part of a small group of employees/contractors.
• Identify and recommend system upgrades to enhance automation efficiency.
