What you'll be doing

• Diagnosing and troubleshooting automatic transmission issues using diagnostic equipment and technical expertise
• Performing routine maintenance and servicing on automatic transmissions, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and adjustments
• Disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling transmission components with precision and attention to detail
• Testing and verifying transmission functionality post-repair to ensure proper operation and performance
• Communicating findings and repair recommendations to customers and management in a clear and professional manner
• Maintaining accurate records of all work performed, including labour time, parts used, and technical notes
• Adhering to all workplace safety standards, health and safety regulations, and best practices in automotive repair
• Collaborating with other workshop team members to support efficient workflow and quality outcomes
• Keeping abreast of new transmission technologies, repair procedures, and industry developments relevant to the automotive sector

What we're looking for

• Recognised qualification in automotive mechanics or transmission repair (such as a Certificate III or IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology, or equivalent trade qualification)
• Proven experience of at least 3-5 years working as an automatic transmission specialist or motor mechanic with a focus on transmission systems
• Strong technical knowledge of automatic transmission operation, diagnosis, and repair procedures across various vehicle makes and models
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems
• Current or ability to obtain relevant trade licences and certifications required in New South Wales
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex transmission faults systematically
• High level of mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety protocols
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers in a customer-friendly manner
