Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults in motor vehicles
• Discuss problems with drivers to discover faults
• Dismantle or remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms or other components, and checks parts
• Repair or replace worn or defective parts, and reassemble mechanical components
• Test and adjust repaired sub-assemblies, and re-install them
• Tune engines to achieve smoother running and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
• Re-line and adjust brakes
• Change oil and filters, and lubricate vehicles or fuelled motor appliances
• Inspect and service emission control systems and petrol fuel systems
• Repair steering systems, suspension systems and hydraulic braking systems
• Carry out service operations and diagnostic procedures
