Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle faults using diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing and tyre rotations.
• Repair or replace engines, transmissions, suspensions and braking components.
• Conduct pre-purchase inspections and provide detailed customer reports.
• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure safety and performance standards.

Star Mechanical Repairs is seeking a skilled Auto Mechanic to join our team on a part-time basis with potential to become full-time, Based in Northmead, NSW, this position offers the flexibility of part‑time work whilst contributing to our reputation for delivering exceptional automotive repair and maintenance services. As an Auto Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers' vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, combining technical expertise with a commitment to customer satisfaction. This role is essential to maintaining our workshop's efficiency and upholding the quality standards that define Star Mechanical Repairs.

What you'll be doing

• Diagnosing vehicle faults using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues
• Performing routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing, and tyre rotations
• Repairing and replacing faulty components such as engines, transmissions, suspensions, and braking systems
• Conducting pre-purchase vehicle inspections and providing detailed reports to customers
• Testing repaired vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards
• Adhering to health and safety regulations and workshop procedures
• Keeping the workshop organised and maintaining tools and equipment in good working order

What we're looking for

• Completed automotive apprenticeship or equivalent formal qualification in automotive mechanical repair
• Current driver's license and satisfactory driving record
• Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic, preferably with exposure to a variety of vehicle makes and models
• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems including engine, transmission, suspension, electrical, and brake systems
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced workshop environment
• Time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks efficiently
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety in the workplace

Preferred experience

• Experience with computerised diagnostic systems and vehicle management software
• Knowledge of current emission standards and compliance requirements
• Experience in a busy workshop environment with high customer throughput
