Job summary

Hastings Deering is seeking an Auto Electrician to join our Mackay team in Queensland. You will diagnose, repair, maintain, and commission Caterpillar machinery, delivering quality workmanship in a permanent, Monday to Friday role.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment is highly regarded.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and diagnose faults.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality repairs – diagnose, maintain and repair Caterpillar machinery.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults across CAT systems.
• Follow WHS and environmental procedures daily.
• Utilise CAT service information and diagnostic tools to complete repairs.
• Ensure work is documented accurately and meets quality standards.
• Support customers by minimising downtime and improving productivity.
• Collaborate with tradespeople, supervisors and support teams.

What you’ll need

A successful teammate will have experience in:

• Trade qualifications – Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
• Industry experience – experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, mobile plant, mining, construction, or agricultural machinery is highly regarded.
• Strong technical skills – ability to interpret electrical schematics, fault-find, and utilise diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Safety focused – demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety with a proactive approach to risk management.
• Team player – ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of individual tasks and responsibilities.
• Attention to detail – pride in delivering quality workmanship and getting the job done right the first time.
• Current driver's licence – a valid driver's licence is required; additional licences and tickets will be highly regarded.
