Job summary

Hastings Deering is seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrician to support CAT mining equipment maintenance in Middlemount on a permanent 7/7 day/night roster. You will work on HV electrical systems, perform fault finding and repairs, and ensure high safety and quality standards while maximising equipment availability.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualifications with experience in heavy industry/mining.
• Demonstrated high voltage experience on mining or heavy equipment.
• Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or ability to obtain them.
• Experience using Caterpillar diagnostic systems (ET, VIMS, SIS) will be valued.
• Strong communication skills to inform onsite stakeholders.
• Commitment to safety, health and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain critical fleet assets through electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs on CAT mining equipment including HV systems.
• Deliver safe, quality outcomes with high standards and maximise equipment availability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot using CAT diagnostic tools to resolve complex electrical faults.
• Keep customers informed with clear progress updates and status reports.
• Assess components for reusability and provide recommendations to improve reliability.
• Submit detailed service reports, timecards and quotations accurately and on time.

We're looking for experienced High Voltage Electricians to join our team at Middlemount to support the maintenance, repair and performance of cutting-edge CAT 794 Electric Truck technology. This is a Permanent 7/7 Day/Night Shift roster Drive In/Drive Out role servicing one of Queensland's leading mining operations.

What you'll be doing

As a High Voltage Electrician at Hastings Deering, you will:

• Maintain critical fleet assets - perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and warranty work on CAT mining equipment, including high voltage systems.
• Deliver safe, quality outcomes - ensure all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards, minimising rework and maximising equipment availability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot effectively - utilise Caterpillar diagnostic systems and technical resources to identify and resolve complex electrical faults.
• Keep customers informed - provide clear communication on job progress, repair requirements and equipment status to onsite stakeholders.
• Support equipment reliability - assess components for reusability and make recommendations to optimise equipment performance and lifecycle.
• Complete accurate documentation - submit detailed service reports, timecards, parts requests and quotations in a timely manner.

What you'll need

A successful teammate will have experience in:

• Electrical trade qualifications - current Electrical Trade Qualification with experience in heavy industry, mining or mobile equipment maintenance.
• High voltage capability - demonstrated experience working on high voltage electrical systems, preferably within mining or heavy machinery environments.
• Mining industry readiness - current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or the ability to obtain them through Hastings Deering.
• Technical expertise - experience using Caterpillar diagnostic systems such as ET, VIMS, SIMSi and SIS will be highly regarded.
• Customer-focused communication - strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships onsite.
• Safety-first approach - a demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
