Job summary

Hastings Deering in Mackay QLD is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to diagnose, repair, maintain and commission Caterpillar machinery and equipment.

This permanent, Monday to Friday role offers the chance to deliver high-quality workmanship and robust service, working with a team of tradespeople and support staff to keep machinery productive.

You will interpret electrical schematics, use diagnostic tools, and uphold safety standards while contributing to customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Industry experience in heavy equipment, mining, construction, or agricultural machinery.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and use diagnostic equipment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and risk management.
• Team player with the ability to own tasks and responsibilities.
• Attention to detail and delivering quality workmanship.
• Current driver’s licence (additional licences/tickets are a plus).

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality repairs - diagnose electrical faults and perform maintenance to a high standard.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults across Caterpillar machinery and systems.
• Work safely, following WHS/Environmental procedures.
• Use Caterpillar service information, schematics and diagnostic tools to complete repairs.
• Ensure all work is documented accurately and meets quality expectations.
• Support customer outcomes by minimising downtime and maximising productivity.
• Collaborate with trades, supervisors and support teams to achieve objectives.

We're looking for an experience Auto Electrician to join our team in Mackay QLD. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning a variety of Caterpillar machinery and equipment while delivering exceptional service and quality workmanship. This is a permanent, Monday to Friday role.

What you'll be doing

• Deliver quality repairs - perform electrical diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs to the highest standard, ensuring equipment reliability and performance.
• Troubleshoot with confidence - identify and rectify electrical faults across a wide range of Caterpillar machinery and systems.
• Work safely every day - follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures while maintaining a safe work environment.
• Use the best information - research and utilise current Caterpillar service information, schematics, and diagnostic tools to complete repairs efficiently.
• Maintain high standards - ensure all work is completed accurately, documented correctly, and meets quality expectations.
• Support customer outcomes - provide technical expertise and solutions that minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
• Work collaboratively - partner with fellow tradespeople, supervisors, and support teams to achieve operational objectives.
