Job summary

Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) is seeking casual educators to support students with autism in small classes at Vern Barnett School, across Forestville, Lane Cove and Eastwood NSW. You will tailor learning plans and work with families to help students achieve their goals.

You will collaborate with school psychologists, speech therapists and occupational therapists, delivering evidence-informed programs that address learning, social and daily living skills while supporting behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or other intellectual disability.
• Knowledge of transitioning students into mainstream settings.
• Certificate III in Education Support or other relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
• Depending on the school's location/requirements it may be essential to have a current driver's licence (per relevant state legislation).
• A Light Rigid (LR) driver's licence (desirable).
• Capacity to travel across all sites in the area (Forestville, Lane Cove & Eastwood).
• NSW Working with Children Check required.
• You may be required to provide an international policecheck.

Responsibilities

• Work with students and families to identify learning goals, building their capacity to succeed and excel.
• Support students with learning, social skills, personal hygiene and toileting and behaviour supports.
• Create a learning environment tailored to individual needs using evidence-informed autism practices.
• Collaborate with our school psychologist, speech therapists and occupational therapists to develop and deliver quality learning programs.
