Job summary

Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) is seeking casual Education Support staff for Vern Barnett School, with locations at Forestville, Lane Cove and Eastwood NSW. You will support students with autism in small class settings, helping them achieve learning goals and build essential life skills.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or other intellectual disability.
• Knowledge of transitioning students into mainstream settings.
• Certificate III in Education Support or other relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
• Current driver's licence may be essential depending on location.
• Light Rigid (LR) driver's licence (desirable).
• Capacity to travel across all sites in the area (Forestville, Lane Cove & Eastwood).
• NSW Working with Children Check required.
• International police check may be required.

Job Description

• Casual positionat Aspect Vern Barnett School. Locations you must be available to work at include:Forestville, Lane Cove and Eastwood NSW.

• At Aspect, work with students and families to identify student learning goals, building their capacity to succeed and excel.
• Support students with learning, social skills, personal hygiene and toileting and behavioursupports.

You will help create a learning environment that tailors to the individual needs of students through evidence informed best practice in autism. A challenging, rewarding and varied role making a difference in the lives of children on the autism spectrum and their families. Develop your knowledge ofautism and specialist education approaches. You will work closely in a team with other professionals such as our school psychologist, speech therapists and occupational therapists to develop and deliver quality learning programs.

Qualifications

What you bring:

• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or other intellectual disability
• Knowledge of transitioning students into mainstream settings
• Certificate III in Education Support or other relevant tertiary qualification (desirable)
• Depending on the school's location/requirements it may be essential to have a current driver's licence (per relevant state legislation)
• A Light Rigid (LR) driver's licence (desirable)
• Capacity to travel across all sites in the area (Forestville, Lane Cove & Eastwood)
• NSW Working with Children Check required
• You may be required to provide an international policecheck.
